This rare, fine jewelry piece is from the Art Nouveau period from 1890 - 1910. The design of this pin is comprised of highly decorative flowing floral creations which is what the period is noted for.
This large antique pin has a curved and flowing shape and is often referred to as a sash pin or a fur pin. My Aunt wore it pinned to the left front shoulder of her mink jacket - stunning! It would look just as beautiful pinned on a modern jacket or pinned to the band of your favorite hat.
The material is gold over brass. The design is a fanciful depiction of lilys, vines, and cat tails embellished with two small amethysts. The original antique open clasp is in working order.
It's rare to find jewelry pieces in excellent condition from the Art Nouveau period because it was such a short period, and many of the materials used to create the jewelry pieces did not survive.
In excellent condition.
