Rare and very beautiful, finely crafted, hand sewn lace panel. When the dress wore out, precious pieces of lace were cut off and saved for other dresses or gowns. Often these bits of lace were passed down through the generations.
There are so many different methods of lace making. I believe this lace is either French point d'Argentan needle lace on net or Victorian Honiton lace on net. This panel was probably part of a high fashion silk gown. Probably late Victorian or Edwardian, 1907-1912.
Height 8", length 70" There are other matching dress pieces offered for sale on this site.
In excellent condition. As always, my items are clean and smoke free.
