Offered for sale is this exquisite, porcelain, chocolate pot expertly hand decorated in the Lewis Straus decorating studio in Limoges, France. Sweet sprays of pink, tea roses and blue, Forget-Me-Not blossoms were applied to a crisp white, backdrop using a popular French decorating technique known as Mixtion. The term Mixtion in French implies to a mixed technique of decoration - - a transferred design embellished by the artist. An ornate gilded, foliage and beaded border over the floral bouquets was meticulously hand painted over a powder blue. The stately handle, wide spout, large lid with its regal finial and magnificent, raised border around the base has been accented with a radiant, coin gold. This stunning, French, work-of-art stands 10.5 inches and reversed are two, Limoges hallmarks with the Lewis Straus & Sons used between the 1890's up to thru the 1920's.
With the exception of a tiny, pin head dimple in the porcelain mentioned only for accuracy, this French beauty is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or paint flakes.
