Nippon Japan Condensed Milk Under Plate Gilded Design Pink Tea Roses
This three piece, serving set features a beautiful, highly ornate gilded and gold beaded design with cartouches filled with light and dark, Parisian pink, sweetheart roses. Not always easy to find all three pieces, these serving accessories were used by the wealthy during the Victorian era to conceal from themselves and their guests, the plain, manufacture's label on the condensed milk can or jelly/jam jar. A large hole in the bottom made for easy removal. The container with lid stands from its regal, gold finial to its scalloped base, 6.75 inches. The matching under plate measures 6.25 inches in diameter. Reversed on the container is a blue, Maple Leaf Nippon hallmark used between 1894 and 1921.
Without exception, this Japanese beauty is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or paint flakes.
