Antique Limoges Double Porcelain Frame Hand Painted Tea Roses
Offered is this stunning, French double frame with an elaborate porcelain mold meticulously hand painted by an remarkably talented, 19th century artist. Featured are garlands filled with romantic multicolored, roses and lush greenery expertly, hand painted on a powder blue, classic white, rosy blush and soft lavender, backdrop. This gorgeous work-of-art still maintains its backing complete with a brass easel and a clear glass insert to shield your photos. It stands, from the highest point, 10 inches and measures 12.5 inches wide. A 4 inch by 6 inch photo would be beautifully framed. To find a marker's hallmark, I would need to take the backing off and because it is permanently affixed to the porcelain, I think it is wise to just guess this porcelain beauty was manufactured by Tressemann & Vogt who is the maker of a majority of these antique, porcelain frames. The T&V Limoges, France hallmark was used between 1892 and 1907.
With the exception of a tiny chip on the edge of the removable interior piece of glass, this hand painted, antique French beauty is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or paint flakes.
