During the 1920s, the Roseville pottery released a number of attractive lines one of which was called Tuscany. George H Krause, originally hired in 1915, was promoted to technical superintendent in 1918. During his tenure he was known to have experimented with numerous glazes some of which were used and became popular in the 1920s. One such glaze was that used on the Tuscany line which came in a pastel pink, aqua and gray hue. The shapes used were simple deco forms with subtle leaves and fruits adorning the base of the handles. All shapes except for the puck flower frogs had handles. This fine example was known as catalogue number 345-8 and stands 8 1/4” tall with a widest girth measuring approximately 7 1/4” across. In pristine condition showing no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. I will mention and as pictured a pinhead glaze pop on one of the handles which is noticeable under close inspection. A very minor factory flaw mentioned for accuracy. The inside is clean showing no staining or residue and I can see very little if any crazing in the glaze. A wonderful and classy Art Deco shape for your parlor. Please enjoy the accompanying pictures of this wonderful item.
