This is a dual purpose kitchen tool. A whisk on one side a chimney cleaner on the other side. Early lighting was gas and kerosene burning lamps. The glass globe has a chimney. The end of the spoon has a slide which would open and close the clamps for the rag or cotton, which was used to clean the interior of the globe and chimney. The whisk was used for a variety number of ways to prepare food. There are many different styles and designs. Some are harder to find than most. This spoon is 14 inches long. The well of the spoon is 3 inches wide, it is slightly curved on both sides. The slide will work and the patina is very good. I have a good many spoons all different. This wire piece was in a photo shoot for the April edition of Martha Stewart Living.
