A Fenton Art Glass Favrene covered bowl or jar which has been hand painted with an elegant floral and lattice decoration. The lid is a heavy openwork brass piece.
This may have been made early on before Fenton started the Connoisseur Collection because it doesn't have any markings on the bottom referring to a particular collection. It's signed on the bottom by the artist Brenda Pezzoni and it's also marked number 44/500.
Favrene glass was a formula made only by Fenton and it's one of their elite glass colors. It has real silver in the formula and must go thru multiple heat sensitive processes to bring out the silver hue. It also gets sprayed with metallic salts and reheated again to give it an iridized finish. It's similar to Tiffany's Blue Favrile glass.
This piece is very heavy and 4 1/2 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches wide. It's in excellent condition with no defects, damage or repairs.
