The Fenton Art Glass Company recreated the Burmese formula in 1969. Since then they have produced many pieces for their own catalog and special editions. This Burmese apple paperweight was made at Gibson Glass using Burmese shards from the Fenton Art Glass Company. This glass was remelted to make Burmese paperweights. This free hand apple paperweight is 4 1/4 inch tall and 3 inch wide.
The bottom of the apple has a yellow/cream color and the upper part is a beautiful peachy pink. The stem and leaf are yellow. Gold in the glass formula is what causes the pink glow to be brought out during a delicate reheating process. The stem and leaf also show the burmese color effect.
This apple is quite heavy and is stamped GIBSON 1998 on the base. It's in excellent condition with no chips or repairs. It's a real nice example of great glass art.
