Antique c. 1890's wood Swiss Music Box featuring twelve aires written on a lithograph board with a colorful scene angels and cupids with romantic Edwardian era couples. The fanciful writing names each song as follows; Coronation, Because I Love You, Our Threepenny Hop, Goodbye Dolly Gray, The Horse the Missis dries the clothes on, The Honeysuckle and the Bee, San Toy. Six Little Wives, Mary was a Housemaid, I can't tell why I Love you but I do, Rule Britannia, The Gay Parisienne, God Save the King. A Lion standing on a globe in a starburst is identified as the Trademark on the lithograph.
There is some foxing on the litho but it is all intact. All far as we can tell, all original with brass hinges, escutcheon and key. The inside is painted black. In good working order, and good condition considering age. The wood has some pieces of the veneer that have fallen off over the years but it still presents very nicely. Measures: 23 1/2" wide x 6 3/4" tall x 10" deep. This has come out of a wonderful estate on Beaver Island Michigan where it was well cared for but we are no experts with these and can only share that a similar one sold for a similar price with less aires. The left crank winds this and it appears to play just fine and will switch songs. However, we think the stop lever does not work so we would suggest contacting an expert in the field for some maintenance. Therefor, we are open to all reasonable offers.
