You have the opportunity to own an original glass negative of one of the earliest trains from Chicago Illinois. Clearly marked "City of Chicago" Train #1. A little bit of research makes us believe that this is one of the trains from the 'elevated train systems'.
I believe this train engine is the first one of one of the two Train Railroads open in the 1890's. It's possible this one was received in 1890 or 1892.
This glass negative has been scanned at a high resolution and created into the image you see here. Included with the original glass negative, is the high resolution scan that I have created without the watermark.
This negative came from the estate of a daughter of the original photographer that took this and other glass negative photos. It would be a wonderful image to reproduce and market.
I have not found a similar image of this particular train anywhere yet. Only similar trains.
