Black Forest Whistler Clockwork Automaton from Santa Barbara Museum of Art Circa 1920s-1930s. This is a beautiful hand carved wooden working automaton clockwork toy, originating from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. It dates circa 1920s-1930s. Beautifully carved and attributed to Griesbaum. This fellow resembles a young lad of the period, who has painted black shoes, a painted red and white polka dot knapsack, and an umbrella. His clothes have been highly detailed with carved and painted accents. His face is very well carved and colored. There is a small chip of wood missing at the base, in the back, otherwise, I think he is in near mint condition. He has a clockwork mechanism in back with a wooden door. There is a key to wind the mechanism and he moves his head side to side and whistles, as if headed for some fine adventure or a day at the beach with his lunch. He measures 8" tall. The base at the back is almost 4" across.

Please note, Ruby Lane's calculated shipping is an estimate and sometimes can be intimidating. Rest assured, I only charge my actual shipping costs and will refund any excess you have paid. USPS shipping rates (both domestic and international) continue to increase. I ship based on size of box (anything over 12" is considered oversized and charged a surcharge by USPS), weight, insurance and priority, first class or express options. I will refund any excess you have paid. I do combine shipping for multiple purchases. Please do not purchase an item to "reserve" it and block if from selling to others while you ponder your purchase. A purchase order is a commitment to buy the item at the price listed and not a pathway to put an item on "hold" .
