Extremely Rare Black Forest Whistler Automaton with Working Clock Circa 1920s-1930s. This is attributed to Griesbaum. The figure features a hand carved man with great detailing to his costume--wrinkles in clothing buttons, belt , even worn shoes with toes poking out His original wooden cane or walking stick is held firmly in his hand. He is leaning against an elaborate WORKING clock which comes with a key to wind the timepiece. The pendulum swings back and forth, keeping time for about 2 days, then it needs to be wound again. This automaton also includes a key to wind the mechanism in his back. When wound, he moves his head side to side, as if leisurely taking in the sights around him, and he whistles! I think he is in wonderful condition and see no damage. The door that closes over the mechanism in back is missing. A perfect gift for a collector of time pieces or automatons! Enchanting to watch! He measures 14" tall and his base is 6.5" X 3" X 1.5". Originates from a private collection. Feel free to contact me for video. Please note, Ruby Lane's calculated shipping is an estimate and sometimes can be intimidating. Rest assured, I only charge my actual shipping costs and will refund any excess you have paid. USPS shipping rates (both domestic and international) continue to increase. I ship based on size of box (anything over 12" is considered oversized and charged a surcharge by USPS), weight, insurance and priority, first class or express options. I will refund any excess you have paid. I do combine shipping for multiple purchases. Please do not purchase an item to "reserve" it and block if from selling to others while you ponder your purchase. A purchase order is a commitment to buy the item at the price listed and not a pathway to put an item on "hold" .
