This outstanding paper covered circa 1930 wooden presentation box displays the infant Jesus sleeping on his side. The wax figure of the baby measures approximately 11" long. The boy is in lovely vintage condition, with some minor shaving to the toe tips of one foot. His head is a separate piece and when the key is would, which is found at the side of the box, a lovely melody plays and the baby's eyes open to reveal bright blue eyes, his head raises slightly, then lowers again and his eyes close. This repeats over and over again until the mechanism winds down and the music no longer plays. The baby has some silk or rayon swaddling clothes and wears a bead necklace. Painted facial features with some wear to the painted eyebrows. Some wear to high points of the molded, painted hair, The tufted and ruched "ceiling" or box interior (lid) appears to be silk and is in lovely condition. Baby rests upon a rayon or silk elaborate lace blanket. The exterior of the box has some paper loss here and there, but overall very lovely and everything works well. The box measures 20" long by 7.5" deep and approximately 9" tall. Although unmarked, this one originates from Italy. Please note, this will be shipped USPS with insurance and signature confirmation.
