What a lovely, outstanding doll! She resembles a French doll! This beautiful, all original Sonneburg papier mache/composition doll stands 24" tall. Original cloth body appears to be sawdust or excelsior stuffed. Lower composition legs and arms. Outstanding gray paperweight eyes accented with delicate, painted upper and lower lashes. Rose blushed cheeks, coral colored painted closed mouth. Wonderful painted eyebrows. Lovely blonde mohair wig with bangs or fringe and soft curls which fall to her shoulders. Paint worn and fingertips off on a few fingers on each hand, not visible from the upper side--they look quite natural. Shoulderplate is irregularly cut, but this appears to be in the making and not damage. There is, however, water damage to one leg, which has caused the composition finish to crack extensively. Toes are missing from the same leg. This is concealed by her original cotton socks and wonderful antique leather high button boots. Please note--that is sunlight on the boots and not damage or wear. Dressed in layers of pristine, crisp original cotton underclothing which includes a full chemise and half slip. Her magnificent original semi sheer dotted dress is accented with pink ribbon at lace accented sleeves and neckline. Wonderful tucks accent the bodice. Silk rosettes at neckline match rosettes on her bonnet, which matches her dress. A remarkable doll which displays beautifully and will be an excellent addition to a doll collection!
Please note, Ruby Lane's calculated shipping is an estimate and sometimes can be intimidating. Rest assured, I only charge my actual shipping costs and will refund any excess you have paid. USPS shipping rates (both domestic and international) have increased this month. I ship based on size of box (anything over 12" is considered oversized and charged a hefty surcharge by USPS), weight, insurance and priority, first class or express options.
I sell vintage and antique items with a history; oftentimes items may show wear from a former life. I always try to note any serious condition issues.
