Wonderful Example of English Fairground Carving by master carver Charles Spooner of Burton-on -Trent is this wooden pine showfront scenery board with a carved Dragon's Head and other scrollings which came from a late 19th century fairground show.
The board is a remnant from a collection of English fairground scenery that was bought in 1997 at the closure of the Wookey Hole Fairground Coollection in Somerset, England.
The board measures 70 inches long x 25 high.. In reasonably good condition with various wear and imperfections from age and usage.
Made in Burton-on-Trent, England by the company of George Orton Sons & Spooner., circa 1890-1910.
