An Unusual and highly amusing Mid-Century Carved Wooden Pig which came from a traditional French Charcuterie shop, selling pork and other cold meats and sausages.
Dating from the early-mid 20th century, the flat backed sitting pig with pot belly, legs akimbo and forward protruding tail would have been specially commissioned and carved by a local artisan woodcarver for a traditional charcuterie store selling every type of pork product from cold meat and sausage to patés and terrines.

The pig, which is carved out of walnut, measures 23 inches high x 25 wide and 8 deep. and is comparatively heavy. Created between 1920 and 1950 - in good solid condition with some natural wear and warpage from long use.
