Wax Male Bust of French 1930s romantic movie star and icon Charles Boyer , created and signed by Parisian Art Studio- 'La Cire D'Art'- in the late 1930's, probably as suppliers to Siegel & Stockman for one of their male mannequin bodies.
Male heads of the period, whether for Barber shop windows or as Fashion Mannequins were often modelled on current Movie Stars- Ronald Colman and William Powell in the US, Leslie Howard in Britain, Charles Boyer and Réné Lefevre in France-
Charles Boyer was a famous international star and actor, and moved to Hollywood where he made many pictures, including the Oscar winning 'Gaslight' where he starred with Ingrid Bergmann and Joseph Cotten. He died in 1978 of a drug overdose just after the death of his beloved wife.
The handsome and beautifully crafted bust is in very good condition though with some blemishes and mild discoloing from its age. Made in France by ' La Cire D'Art' circa 1938. 13 inches high.
