A Beautiful 19th century Child's Rocking Horse from France in carved wood with metal head and fittings that have been highly polished to create a very decorative sculptural object.
The rocking horse was made by the Auguste Reidmeister Studio in Paris and sold alongside its horse tricycles, in shops and stores throughout France during that period.
The handlebar with wooden handles is removeable and I have photographed the horse both with (lower photos) and without them (top and bottom photos)
There are 4 small metal bottom wheels which are hinged to the rocker bars and held up by clips. When unclipped, the wheels drop down to convert the rocking horse into a pull- along toy.
In very good condition, Made in France circa 1880-1900, Measures 42 inches long x 29 high x 15 wide
