Interesting Oil Painting of a French Aristocrat . From the early 19th century ,the elegantly dressed nobleman wears a jewelled tiepin in his cravat and the medal of the cross of St.Louis showing him to be a supporter of King Louis XVIII, the king who was restored to throne after the Revolution and the age of Napoleon.
The painting, which is unsigned, is in reasonable condition after restoration to resolve some small tears in the canvas which had been rolled up . I thought the character of the man made the painting very well worth preserving and offering here on the site.
Measures 26 inches high x 21 wide.
