Original 'Double Ball' glass Seltzer or Soda Siphons from Paris. The two siphons, one slightly taller than the other , were made by the Lefevre company in 19th century Paris ,and have the maker's name engraved on the Pewter neck (see photo) with the model name 'Seltzogene'. The origin of the protective wire jacket was in case the siphon exploded from being shaken too much - an unlikely event but a precaution from being available on every bar counter ! . The heavy hand-blown glass siphons with their wire mesh jackets are both in perfect condition and are still usable . (The bottom photo shows a siphon less its wire jacket.)
Made in France, circa 1880-1900. Measuring 17 inches tall and 16 inches tall respectively.
