A Beautiful old 19th century Carousel Horse made by the company of Friedrich Heyn in Germany. In the 1880's , Heyn was making horses for Carousels all over Europe as well as in Germany- this particular example was found in France. The horse measures 53 inches long (front hoof-rear hoof) x 35 high and was therefore a smaller horse on an adult ride, probably from the inside row. The horse has fraying to its wooden ears and also several old repair brackets and patches over joints from years of use but is basically stable, and is now mounted on a wooden plinth. This is a very genuine piece in totally unrestored state in contrast to the many ultra restored carousel horses and other pieces that no longer show the true traces of their individual histories.
