Early 19th century oil painting of a Young Girl . Coming from France , the painting , in vivid colours and well composed is reminiscent of the style of French painter Henri Rousseau, considered a pioneer in primitive art. The little girl bears a striking resemblance to Jeanne Bernard Rousseau, Henri's grand-daughter. The painting has been recently re-framed in a good quality frame and some flaking of the paint can be seen just above the base.
Measures 26 inches high x 24 wide. Circa 1820-1840
