A very beautiful old Horse Tricycle made for a small child in late 19th century France. Known as a 'Velocipede', these horse trikes were made by the Auguste Reidmeister company and were sold throughout France through department stores like the 'Samaritaine' in Paris. Carved in wood with metal head, wheels and brackets, this model was pedalled like an ordinary trike though others were propelled by a chain driven mechanism. In totally unrestored condition, this charming example has its original leather saddle and other worn accoutrements.
Measures 28 inches long x 26 high x 17 wide. In working condition. Circa 1880-1900
Due to the wide 'girth' of the Horse Trike, International Shipping will be much less expensive if we take it apart carefully and provide instructions for its reassembly . ( To most locations in North America, this would mean $80 as opposed to $300 )
