Vintage 'Tolework' Advertising Clock from France for 'Chocolat Revillon'. Made as a point-of-sale advertisement, it was traditionally found in shops and cafés all over France from the 1920s to the 1950s.. The wavy outer shape, known as 'oeil de boeuf' (bullseye) mimics traditional French wall clocks of the 19th century. This is a particularly good example -in excellent condition with a minimum of wear. - a very sought after and collectible piece from the recent past. The clock has its original original brass wind-up pendulum movement . Measures 23 inches high x 17 wide.
Beware- reproductions of the Chocolat Revillon clock are being made by a company in England and sold on Ebay They have battery movements and are circular in shape, not like the original wavy 'oeil de boeuf '. They are fun but carry no value. as a vintage collectible.
