Old hand- painted sign from a market stall in a fish market in Martigues , a village near Marseilles in southern France at the mouth of the Rhone river delta and the Camargue plain. The fish depicted is the Daurade Royale or Golden Bream , which is famously used in the celebrated 'Bouillabaisse' fish stew. A folk art 'soul' piece for gastronomes or mediterranean romantics !.
