While related to the souvenir mugs of the early 20th century, I believe this token of affection mug might be a precursor, similar in decoration and style to the 19th century porcelain mugs commemorating the birth of a child, and may be English rather than German. It is unmarked.

The mug is 2 ¾” tall and 4” wide from the end of the applied handle to the opposite lip. It is decorated with hand painted pink rosebuds and golden swirls. “Keepsake” is printed in gold chancery letters. A wide gold band circles the rim, the handle has a gold stripe and the base is painted gold.

The mug is in very good condition with light wear to the gold paint on the rim and heavier wear to the bottom of the base. There is a bit of roughness around the unglazed bottom edges but no chips or cracks. Please examine the photos and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

While you are here, do enjoy the other token of affection cups I have available for sale at this time. Thank you for visiting my shop today.
