The Saalfield Publishing company, founded in Akron Ohio in 1900, was once the largest publisher of children’s materials in the world. One of their early series was a collection of small, muslin cloth books called “Saalfield’s Muslin Books” published between 1903 and 1910. Made to be washable as well as durable, the books have a picture of a curly headed little girl holding an ABC book on the back cover. Under the picture is a verse that reads, “All my other books are worn/ and the leaves are badly torn/ but my muslin books I found/ were as good as newly bound”.

GREENAWAY’S CHILDREN is one of the books from the Muslin Book series. It was published in 1907. It is made of cloth printed with Kate Greenaway’s oh so popular designs of Victorian children sweetly dressed in the imagined wardrobe of the early 19th century. There are ten pages of short verses with a full color Greenaway picture on the bottom of each page.

The book has a little fading. There is slight wear along the top and bottom edges and some page edges have toned a bit. There is also some water spotting (eventhough the book is supposed to be washable). Please examine the photos and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

While you are here, do enjoy the other children’s books I have available at this time. Thank you for visiting my shop today.
