Godiva Chocolate was founded in Brussels in 1926 by the Draps family who open their first shop in the Grand-Place in honor of the legendary Lady Godiva. A shop opened in Paris in 1958. Godiva Chocolates were first marketed in the United States in 1966.

I am unsure of the date of this delightful Godiva Easter candy box but because it has a barcode on the back it has to be later than 1973. I’m guessing the 80’s or 90’s. The box is a large and very substantial one. It measures 8” x 10” x 1 ½”. It is made of white cardboard wrapped with pebbly white paper around the edges and a heavy die cut cardboard sheet glued on the cover and bottom. The cover has a wonderful meadow scene of chicks and Easter rabbits investigating an Easter basket which appears to have a golden box of Godiva chocolates inside. The scene is framed by a grapevine trellis entwined with morning glories at the top and pansies, daffoldils and tulips at the bottom. Two beautifully painted eggs peek out of the corners.

The box is in excellent condition with a few bumps on the edges and a light bend on the center of the top. Please examine the photos and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. This box will be a wonderful addition to an Easter display.
