Among the favorite sewing items that Victorian women could make for dear friends or family, was a small pin cushion. Often created using fabric scraps stuffed with sand or cotton, these little trinkets cost little money and were usually treasured by those who received them.
This 2” square pincushion appears to be such a gift. It is made from two silks – green and red and green plaid. It is stuffed with cotton and trimmed with red ribbon decorated with feather stitching. Each corner has a red ribbon bow.
The pin cushion is in good condition. There is some wear to the plaid silk and corner ribbons. Please examine the photos and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
