I love the beautiful sewing items Victorian and Edwardian women made for their family and friends. Since men held the purse strings, women often had little money of their own to spend and had to reply on their creative skills to provide special gifts for the ones they held dear.
This wonderful heart shaped needlebook is an example of an early 20th century piece. It measures 3 ¼” by 3 ½”. It is made of heavy card covered with white linen on the outside and blue silk inside, blanket stitched around the edges. The front and back covers are painted with sprays of forget me nots and held together with blue silk ribbon. Inside are four pinked-edge white flannel heart pages to hold the needles. One needle is still inside.
The needlebook is in very good condition with a hardly visible spot or two on the covers but some foxing on the blue silk interior. Please examine the photos and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
