Forget Me Not Antiques
is now SOLDThis lovely sweet grass basket was likely woven by northeast Abenaki craftswomen and integrated into a pin cushion by the New Hampshire or Maine Shakers in the early 20th century.
The basket itself is 4”x 21/2”. It has a mauve silk ribbon for a handle tacked to the basket sides with bows. Hanging from the ends of the basket are a large celluloid thimble and a celluloid bodkin or ribbon threader. The pin cushion is made of cotton combings covered with fragile pink silk.
The condition of the basket is excellent. The silk on the top of the pin cushion has split, otherwise it too is in very good condition. Please take a close look at the photos and email me if you have any questions.
