Gemstones Vintage Hand Carved Genuine Lapis Lazuli Sterling Silver Necklace
$425.00 This is a magnificent hand carved Lapis Lazuli Necklace with stunning sterling silver hook and eye clasp. The Lapis gems are genuine undyed with graduated large round carved beads in the shape of melons, and gorgeous smaller round lapis spacer beads. The largest central bead measures 18 mm around and about 12 mm thick. The smaller spacer lapis beads are also graduated from 8 mm to 5 mm.. It's length is 24" long. The lapis lazuli gemstones are a dark navy blue color with pyrite and very little striations due to the gems being natural and undyed. The last photo makes them look lighter than they really are... the other photos are more true to the color. Lapis of this quality is not often seen and this is a wonderful opportunity to own a gem quality necklace in mint condition.Excellent condition..
Lapis Lazuli, Lapis for short, is a deep blue semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color. Lapis Lazuli was being mined in the Sar-i Sang mines and in other mines in the Badakhshan province in northeast Afghanistan as early as the 7th millennium BCE. It was used for the eyebrows on the funeral mask of King Tutankhamun (1341–1323 BCE).
