12K Gold Filled Floating Gemstone Amethyst Pendant Necklace
$98.00 Known as floating opal... except in this case it is floating amethyst... the glass bulb contains faceted amethyst gemstones... suspended in glycerin. The amethyst float inside the glass seamlessly. An intriguing vintage necklace and VERY unique in the fact that it is not opal but amethyst... c1950s. A delicate, beautiful and unique floating gemstone pendant. The pieces float with movement creating shimmering color change with glints of purple, and lilac.
The bulb is attached to a marked 12K gold filled cap, it hangs from a a decorative gold filled open link chain. The Bale is marked “1/20 - 12K G.F.” and the chain is marked. The pendant measures 1" long by 3/8" wide, and the gold filled chain is 18" long. Excellent condition, very bright and clean, no damage or wear, secure spring ring catch.
Its condition is immaculate. The glycerin is clear and the opal chips are stunning. It is much prettier than my photographs show and when worn, it never fails to elicit compliments.
In the words of Horace Welch, “A fascinating jewel with animation, motion, life. The most charming of all charms. The most novel of all novelties.”
