Cameo Beautiful en Habille Diamond Necklace Filigree Sterling Silver Frame Brooch Pin
Don't you just love en habille, meaning jewelry wearing jewelry? I do, and this is certainly an exquisite example. The 1920's carved shell cameo is highly domed to display the necklace, which has a little diamond chip in it, with a comb in her hair and very detailed curls. Her features are beautifully defined, her profile simply gorgeous. She wears a classical dress adorned with flowers and a paste stone necklace of great sparkle. The frame is marked Sterling Silver, and tested. The filigree is very fine, with flower and leaves as decorations on the border. No faults are found. The size is 2" x 1 5/8". Measures 1-7/8" tall and 1-3/8" across.
The fold down bail is missing but can be fixed by any qualified jeweler. She has the loose shoulder baring clothing as was typical in the 20's and 30's period. The curls in her hair dates her to this time period as well. The brooch is in excellent condition.
Cameos make an incredible traditional bridal gift from mother to daughter, usually given with the intent of wearing at the wedding ceremony, and to eventually pass down to their own daughter. They also make a very popular choice for "Something Borrowed". We recommend storing fine cameo jewelry individually in a crush proof box, away from any other pieces that may damage them. Do not exposed to extreme cold temperatures, and occasionally you should moisturize the shell with olive or mineral oil.
