Trade Beads African Sterling Silver Hand Made Brooch Pin
$65.00 These were made and sold at the Bead Museum that was here in Glendale,to raise money, before they closed. What a FABULOUS Brooch, Pin depicting vintage African Trade beads. A great example across the board. From as early 2200 B.C. with the Egyptians, beads of all sizes, shapes and colors have been used for adornment in jewelry, clothing and ceremonies. They were used as a currency to exchange for goods, services and slaves. They are still sometimes referred to as 'slave beads'. The beads were produced throughout Europe although the Venetians dominated production with a wonderful variety of glass beads like the millefiori. Measure 2" across and 3-1/2" long. Excellent condition.
