Each of the ovals is set with outstanding pieces of turquoise, which are truly sky blue in color with beautiful matrix. From each of these extends silver pieces which resemble small trumpets, but are representations of the squash blossom. Each of these pieces are "threaded" along a double row of round silver hand made bench beads, which have a rim where they are joined. The necklace has a simple hook and eye closure. The pendant, or naja, is a traditional horseshoe shape. Astounding! elegance and workmanship.
It is difficult to appreciate the artistry of this necklace without handling it yourself. However, it is a wonderful example of Native American Indian silversmith work and is in Excellent Condition! . Anyone would be proud to wear it!
While Navajo silversmiths are usually associated with the design, they were also made and worn by members of the Pueblo and Zuni peoples. In the 1960's, there emerged a high demand for these kinds of necklaces. This piece is mostly likely from that era, to the1970's.
