Gorgeous Art Deco French sterling silver and cut crystal liquor / wine decanter. Stunning cobalt blue cut to clear. Tall and slender form decorated with deep wheel cut geometric motifs and stars. Topped by tapered faceted stopper of thick, solid cut crystal. The base features a 16-point wheel cut starburst. Such excellence to this crystal decanter, undoubtedly crafted by one of the prominent cristalleries in France, such as Baccarat or Saint Louis. Mounted at the neck with a collar crafted from the highest quality sterling silver, decorated with an elegant pierced or reticulated border. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Also bearing a maker's mark for silversmiths Crossard et Dogit, active 1920 to 1931 at 26 rue Michel-le-Comte, Paris. In very good condition with no damage to note. Such beautiful quality and impressive on the dining table. Housed in the original presentation box, with faux alligator leatherette exterior and fitted yellow satin and velvet interior. Decanter stands 17 1/4" tall x 2 3/4" diameter base. The presentation box shows age related wear and measures 19 1/4" x 5 3/8" x 4 1/2" height.
