Antique 19thc French Sterling Silver 950 Engraved Napkin Ring, by Louis Coignet
A lovely antique French sterling silver .950 napkin ring. Beautifully decorated! To the center is a delightful cartouche in the form of a note card, framed by foliage. Blank cartouche, perfect to have personalized with your own engraved monogram or emblem. Further decorated with intricate guilloche engraving, patterned with Louis XVI ribbon and reed trim, embellished with twined ribbon and foliage. Overall a lovely napkin ring and in good condition. Perfect for the dining table and great to accompany an assorted collection of French napkin rings. In overall good antique condition. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Also a silversmith's mark for Louis Coignet, active from 1889 to 1893, whose workshop was located at 14 rue Barbette, Paris. Measures 2" diameter x 1 5/8" height. Weighs 42.3 grams.
