A charming French Limoges porcelain 7 3/8" dessert plate by Raynaud & Co. Circa early 20thc. Mounted with a sterling silver rim bearing French hallmarks and crafted by the firm of Parisian silversmith Edmond Tétard. The fantastic design features vibrant yellow and blue birds of paradise surrounded by tropical blossoms and foliage, further decorated with butterflies and gold gilt accents. This particular pattern was a special edition made exclusively for Tetard, as a collaboration between Raynaud and the famous silversmith firm. In very good condition with no chips or cracks to the porcelain. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark used from 1838, which depicts the goddess Minerva with a number 1 beside her to denote a silver content of 950/1000 (of 95% pure silver and a higher finesse than .925 sterling). Bearing makers marks for Tétard frères, active from 1903 at 4 rue Béranger in Paris.
