A charming antique Napoleon III era French trinket box of gorgeous pink opaline glass in the form of a hinged egg. Not only a fine example of antique opaline glass, but a charming whimsey treasure from the Napoleon III era, and mostly likely a Grand Tour souvenir trinket from one of the many boutiques along the Palais Royale. Opaline glass is truly stunning, ranging in a variety of colors and shapes, and such opaline eggs are absolutely beautiful, great to collect and display for all to see! This piece here is in a lovely pink color, almost a rosy shade of pink, mounted onto a footed metal stand with finely detailed leaves and flowers on the top. Hinged lid with an S-shaped clasp. Featuring hand painted raised enamel motifs to the lid. Truly a stunning piece of art and overall in good condition for its age with no chips or cracks. Measures 5 3/8" in total height.
