An outstanding antique Bohemian glass sugar casket by Anton Ambros Egermann (Haida, Bohemia 1814-1888). Of vibrant green colored cut glass hand painted in colorful raised enamel. Decorated with heraldry coat of arms, of a shield topped by a helm and flanked by mantling and banners, the back having a marquis crown. Hinged metal mounts with a rounded escutcheon shaped lock. In good condition with general wear; no chips or cracks; lacking a key. The box measures 5 1/2" length x 3 5/8" wide x 3 7/8" tall.
Anton Ambros Egermann was the son of the famous Friedrich Egermann. Before closing in 1888, his workshop supplied glass to J. & L. Lobmeyr, Vienna. With examples are held at the Passauer Glasmuseum in Germany and a collection at the Corning Museum of Glass, NY. Examples are illustrated in Georg Höltl's, 'Das Böhmische Glas 1750-1950.
