An outstanding vintage French 18K yellow gold & emerald figural retro period fur clip or brooch pin, circa 1960's - 1970's. Exquisitely well crafted to resemble an adorable dog in 3D form. Mounted with emerald cabochon eyes, measuring 4.70mm round. A type of spaniel or hound we presume, the dog sits at ease with one paw raised in earnest greeting. Such fine details to the head and face. The dog's expression is one of joy and peace, its mouth is open to resemble a smiling countenance to the passing observer! This charming hound is just aiming to please and make your day a happy one! The body and ears are crafted entirely from interwoven curling gold strands, conveying an intricate cascade of long fur! This intricate motif provides the illusion of openwork and depth. This impressive testament to the jeweler's superb craftsmanship! Backed by a hinged double pin with a safety trombone clasp on the longer of the two pins. Both pins are hallmarked with the French control mark indicating 18k gold content, in the form of an eagle's head, in use in France from 1838. The brooch weighs 21.9g, in very good condition. Measures 1 5/8" length x 1 1/4" widest.
