An antique French Saint Louis crystal carafe set for 2, or liquor / absinthe service. Circa 1890-1910. Comprising of two drinking goblets on stems; a large water or liquor decanter; a smaller decanter ideal for flavoring additives which were popular in the 19th century such as absinthe, liqueurs, or les eaux florales and herbals; a lidded sugar bowl or bonbonnière; and a circular serving tray. Ideal for your guest bedroom or master suite. Each piece is of quality hand blown crystal decorated with an all over acid etched cameo surface and gilded accents. The decanters with fluted necks and topped by gorgeous faceted stoppers. The base of the stoppers are numbered and correspond to matching numbers on the decanters, indicating they are original. This model and pattern is illustrated in the Saint Louis catalog for 1908. These pieces are unmarked, made prior to the acid etched mark first used by the firm in 1936. Like Baccarat, the St. Louis cristallerie marked their wares with a paper label prior to their acid etched branding and these old paper labels were often lost, washed away or worn with time. In overall good condition with general wear. No chips or cracks. A gorgeous and complete set! Please see pictures for measurements.
