A stunning antique Napoleon III era French green crystal and gilt ormolu vase. Featuring gorgeous emerald green color with all over acid etched surface, textured to resemble chipped ice, comparable to cameo glass by Daum, Mont Joye and Legras. Finished with a polished pontil to the base. Most likely Baccarat. Beginning in 1860, Baccarat marked their pieces with a circular paper label bearing their logo, which often times got lost, removed or washed away. It was not until 1936 that Baccarat replaced their traditional paper labels with a permanent acid-etched logo on their pieces. Embellished with exquisite gilt bronze ormolu mounts decorated in opulent neoclassical Empire motifs including finely detailed figures and decorative accents. The decor comprises of beautiful winged female figures as angels, cherubs or putti with one holding a peacock, fierce Napoleonic eagles clutching laurel and lightening bolts in their talons, bountiful cornucopias and a Grecian laurel wreath with ribbon bow. Trimmed at the base and collar with intricate acanthus patterned friezes. Further embellished with four ram heads at the base. Beautiful antique vase, in very good condition with general wear. No chips or cracks to the stunning green glass. One cherubic figural embellishment appears to be missing something in his hand, visible in the pictures. Measures 5 7/8" tall x 2 7/8" square at the base.
