Antique 19th century Victorian 14k gold writer's wax seal with semi-precious gem stone handle. The exquisite faceted handle is of solid white agate chalcedony. Terminating to a finely crafted 14k yellow gold mount (unmarked but tested) finished with an oval white agate matrix. Features a carved escutcheon intaglio bearing the Darby family coat of arms: per chevron embattled with three eagles displayed. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. On one side of the handle is a natural occurring flaw with a hint of red/yellow color deposit in the stone. Measures 2 5/16" length, the matrix is 5/8" x 9/16" oval.
