Antique 19th century French gilt bronze ormolu jewelry box featuring two oval shaped pietra dura plaques. The serpentine shaped body is elaborately festooned with engraved details. Two pietra dura plaques adorn the front and lid, inlaid in various hard stones with a pansy flower motif and framed with beaded trim. Four theatrical figures in costuming of a Renaissance or Elizabethan theme decorate each corner, residing on top of a gadrooned border. The statuettes are finely casted and silver gilt. Featuring two gentlemen with large feather plumed hats and two ladies in period gowns. The casket has a lock but is lacking a key. The lid opens to reveal a cream silk or satin lined interior with braided trim. The box rests on four stylized feet. Of superb quality and ornately decorated, in good antique condition. Measures 6 3/8" length x 4 3/8" wide x 3 7/8" tall.
