Antique 19th century Black Forest hand carved wood figural wall mount hat or riding crop rack. The sculpture comprises of a majestic eagle with wings outspread, perched on a naturalistically carved branch surrounded by pine needles with three pine cones. The figure is beautifully rendered with an uncanny realism, displaying a multitude of finely detailed feathers and its talons clutch the natural bark of the pine branch. The eagle has a glass eye, adding to its life-like quality. Supporting four carved wood hooks. In good condition with general wear. The back wing had a clean break and was repaired, this is not so easily visible from the front because of the eagle's head, but can be seen in the picture showing the backside of the piece. Nice large size, measuring 26" length x 12 5/8" high.
