Plate 68 Los Caprichos Pretty teacher Linda maestra after Goya by Bundesdruckerei - 20th C., Berlin. Inscribed on plate with number '68' and caption 'Linda maestra!' Signed 'Goya' lower left of plate. The Philadelphia Museum of Art has a 1799 first edition with an interesting interpretation of the symbolism of two witches, one young, the other old, flying on a broom with an owl overhead. Full margins, stamped on the reverse with a Bundesdruckerei Berlin blue seal and marked with a blind embossed eagle on the bottom right corner of the margin. The German Bundesdruckerei (Federal Printing House), in addition to its function of printing currency, securities, stamps, etc., continued the tradition, from the Kaiser era, of making copies such as this of old master copper plate engravings. Nicely matted and framed, ready to display. In very good condition, with minor imperfections as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
