Pair antique French genre etchings celebrating parenthood:"Le Déjeuner de Fanfan" ( Lunch for the Precious One )" and "Ah qu'il est Joli " ( Ah he is pretty ). They are inscribed in French as follows:

Le Dejeuner de Fanfan
Peint a la Gouache par Vangorp fecit
Grave par Malles sous la Direction de Bonnet

Ah qu'il est Joli
a Paris chez Jean Me. d'Estampes rue St. Jean de Beauvais.
Peint a la Gouache par Vangorp fecit
Grave par Malles

The first etching shows a mother about to nurse her baby. The second portrays a mother handing her baby to the father; on the floor, on the right, an older child is sitting, playing with a dog; a violin on a chair and a music score on the mantle.

Another example of "Le Dejeuner de Fanfan" etching is part of the National Gallery of Art collection. The original Vangorp gouache is in the Harvard Art Museum collection.

Henri-Nicolas Van Gorp or Vangorp (circa 1756 - died after 1819) was a French painter and watercolorist, specialized in genre scenes.

Jean-Baptiste Mallet (1759-1835) was a French painter and printmaker who specialized in small, elegant gouaches.

Etchings come matted and framed in later frames, ready to display. Perfect decor for a most elegant nursery or bedroom; or as christening or new mother gift.
